Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh Project 38 Percent Complete

Construction of the five-star Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Phnom Penh is currently 38 percent completed and is on schedule to open by 2020.

“At this stage, everything is going well following the schedule. We expect the construction to finish on time,” Mr Ken Nhan, Director of New Business Development of Chip Mong Group Co., Ltd. told the Construction Property Magazine.

Located in heart of Phnom Penh between the Royal Palace and National Museum on St. 178, this hotel is the first ever Hyatt-branded business in the kingdom and has seen an investment of USD100 million by the Chip Mong Group.

After breaking ground in March last year, construction on the 14-storey and 3 underground floor, the project has progressed quickly. The hotel features a total of 247 rooms, restaurant, fitness centre, spa and a rooftop swimming pool and bar with views of the Royal Palace and the Mekong and Tonlé Sap Rivers.

The design and management of Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh will be to the international standard of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, one of the most globally-recognised hotel brands. Originating in the United States, Hyatt currently has more than 600 properties around the world.

“We are delighted to bring the Hyatt Regency brand to Phnom Penh and Cambodia, and we are honoured to begin our relationship with Chip Mong Group,” said David Udell, group president – Asia Pacific, Hyatt Hotels Corporation at the agreement signing ceremony in 2016.

“As Phnom Penh continues to become known as a destination for art, culture, tourism and business, we are confident that the globally-recognised Hyatt Regency brand will resonate with business and leisure travellers visiting the country,” he added.
