India Eyes Potential Investment in Mining Sector in Cambodia

The Indian ambassador to Cambodia has announced that many Indian private firms are looking for investment opportunities in the mining sector in Cambodia, mainly for gold and iron.

Indian Ambassador HE Devyani Uttam Khobragade made the remarks during a recent meeting with Minister of Mines and Energy HE Suy Sem.

The meeting was mainly focused on the potential and opportunity of strengthening the cooperation on investment and trade of Indian companies such as on gold and iron mine development projects.

Additionally, the two also discussed the potential in the energy sector such as power transmission and distribution lines, oil, as well as gas development projects.

HE Suy Sem welcomed the proposed projects and said his ministry is ready to assist and facilitate Indian investments in Cambodia.

According to the minister, by far, one Indian investment company Mesco Gold has received a gold exploration license from the ministry to conduct a study on commercial gold production in Rattanakiri province.
