India Boosts Ecotourism Development in Kampong Thom & Prey Veng Provinces

India has pledged its strong backing for ecotourism community development projects in two Cambodian provinces, Kampong Thom and Prey Veng. This encouraging commitment was the result of a productive meeting between HE Sok Soken, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, and HE Dr Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Underlining their dedication to Cambodia’s tourism sector, India has thrown its weight behind three Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) aimed at bolstering the country’s ecotourism endeavours. These projects encompass:

  1. “Developing Mobile Applications to Promote Community and Ecotourism” – A tech-driven initiative that seeks to harness the power of mobile applications to elevate community and ecotourism promotion.
  2. “Promoting Ecotourism Activities in Phat Sanday Ecotourism Community, Kampong Thom Province” – A vital project directed at invigorating ecotourism pursuits in the scenic Phat Sanday ecotourism community situated in Kampong Thom province.
  3. “Promoting the Development of Boeung Sneh Ecotourism Community, Prey Veng Province” – This initiative aims to foster the growth of the Boeung Sneh ecotourism community located in Prey Veng province.

Moreover, during their discussions, the two diplomatic representatives explored innovative approaches to craft religious and heritage tourism packages. This signifies a broader vision to diversify Cambodia’s tourism offerings and engage travellers with its rich cultural and natural heritage.
