Industry Ministry Launches CAM-PACK+ Project to Expand MSME Market Access Through Packaging Innovation

Minister Hem Vanndy leads a $300,000 Mekong-Lancang funded initiative to enhance packaging standards and regional trade integration across Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam

Phnom Penh: Elevating packaging quality and integrating innovative design technologies have become crucial strategic prerequisites for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) seeking to overcome market barriers and integrate into regional and global supply chains. On September 30, 2026, at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation Hem Vanndy presided over the official launch of CAM-PACK+, an initiative titled “Enhancing Regional Market Access Through Packaging Innovation in Mekong-Lancang Countries”. The launch ceremony took place on the closing day of the PackTalk & Foodtec Cambodia 2026 expo, convening government officials, regional delegates, and private sector representatives.

The CAM-PACK+ project is designed to directly benefit MSMEs across Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam by modernizing packaging standards and enhancing product presentation. The 15-month regional initiative is backed by $300,000 in funding from the Chinese government through the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund. Through this initiative, participating enterprises will receive technical assistance, capacity-building workshops, and specialized guidance on adoptable packaging solutions tailored to meet international market requirements and consumer standards.

This strategic launch reflects the ministry’s commitment to addressing structural trade bottlenecks and adding value to local products. Improving packaging aesthetics, durability, and safety not only boosts consumer confidence domestically but also empowers local producers to fulfill strict export criteria, paving the way for sustained international market expansion.

Noticeably, the launch of the CAM-PACK+ project marks a substantial step forward in strengthening Cambodia’s industrial and trade infrastructure. Through close regional cooperation and targeted funding from the Mekong-Lancang framework, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation is laying a strong foundation for local businesses to enhance their competitiveness, drive export potential, and support long-term economic resilience.
