Japan Assists Cambodia in Planning Urban Water Supply Development

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will co-develop an urban water supply development plan. 

The agreement was signed between the two parties on 12 January 2023. 

The project will be implemented in mid-2023 when both parties will draft guidelines for the development of the urban water sector, a model of a provincial water development plan, and a master plan model for public water units in the targeted provinces. 

The project will also include training courses for professional officers of the Department of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation. 

Under this project, both parties aim to ontribute to improving access to quality, safe, sustainable, and affordable water in Cambodia. 

The project is the fifth technical cooperation project in clean water since 2003.
