Japan Provides Approx. US$300k grant for Infrastructure Projects in Six Provinces

The Government of Japan has provided a total of nearly US$300,000 through the KUSANONE scheme t to build small water treatment plants, provide water supply equipment, and assist in the installation of artificial motion therapy equipment in various provinces.

The grant agreement was signed between Cambodian and Japanese representatives on 4 March 2022.

The project to install artificial motion therapy equipment will take place at the Kratie Rehabilitation Centre. Meanwhile, the construction of small-scale water treatment plants will be carried out in eight communes in four provinces, while the provision of clean water supply equipment is for Kampong Chhnang province.

Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro hopes that these grants will improve the quality of life of the people living in each project location.

On 1 March, Japan also provided total grant aid of over US$520,000 for the construction of bridges and irrigation systems in three provinces: Kandal, Kratie and Banteay Meanchey.(Read more)

KUSANONE started in Cambodia in 1991 with the aim to reconstruct and develop Cambodia at the grassroots level. Over 30 years, Japan has provided over US$65 million to implement 668 KUSANONE projects.
