Japan Provides More Grant Aid for Infrastructure Development in Cambodia

he Japanese government has agreed to provide approximately US$600,000 in grant aid to build infrastructure in Pailin, Kampong Thom and Svay Rieng provinces, after also providing around US$500,000 last week for other development projects in five provinces.

The grant contracts were signed on 19 March between Japan Ambassador to Cambodia HE Mikami Masahiro, and the recipients to carry out construction on the following projects:

• Pumping station and drainage system in Pailin province (US$217,845)
• Three cashew nut warehouses, four cashew nut drying factories and other processing equipment in Kampong Thom province (US$169,720)
• A 6km road in Bos Morn commune in Svay Rieng province (US$186,665)

Last week, the Japanese government has also agreed to provide over US$480,000 to build healthcare facilities and some technical equipment in Mondulkiri, Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville and Kampong Chhnang provinces.  (Read more)
