Japan Uses Its Latest Technology for Chroy Chongvar Bridge’s Rehabilitation

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) released a one-minute long video showcasing Japan’s latest technology used for the rehabilitation of the ChroyChongva Bridge or the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge.

As shown in the video, the Japan Ambassador to Cambodia H.E Mr Hidehisa Horinouchi elaborated that Japan is carefully working on the ChroyChongva Bridge’s rehabilitation using Japan’s latest technology.

According to the video presentation, Japan used metallic particles (stainless steel) to remove old paint. Then, the old paint and metallic particles are pumped and then separated automatically. The next process allows the old paint to flows into the waste bin whereas used metallic particles flow into the storage bin for recycling.

By using this method, the waste is not dropped into the river and also the iron bridge girder will be coated evenly with new paint to avoid getting rusty by water penetration.

Meanwhile, at the end of the video, H.E Mr Hidehisa Horinouchi said that Japan is very delighted to see this modern technology contributes to the environmental protection in Cambodia and a more firm and elegant ChroyChongva Bridge.

The rehabilitation of the ChroyChangva Bridge is set to finish before Khmer New Year in April, two months ahead of the set schedule. (Read more)
