The opening ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including His Excellency Keo Rattanak, Minister of Mines; His Excellency Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia; and His Excellency Koi Rida, Governor of Pursat province.

Governor Koi Rida emphasized Pursat province’s emerging role as a leader in solar and hydroelectric energy production, highlighting its potential with up to three locations designated for domestic supply and export. “This project not only stands to bolster our economy but also aims to transform Pursat from a mere transit point into a hub of industrial and tourism development,” he stated.

Ambassador Ueno Atsushi added that the solar power initiative, which incorporates an energy storage system, is instrumental in addressing Cambodia’s increasing electricity demands while also aiding efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Minister Keo Rattanak noted that the project represents a significant collaboration between Chugoku, a leading Japanese power company, and SchneiTec ZEALOUS, an established entity in Cambodia. He underscored the project’s importance in supporting the ongoing economic development of Pursat, which is witnessing a continual rise in electricity consumption.
