JICA Launches Three Campaigns for Siem Reap Smart City Project

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been working with the Cambodian government to transport Siem Reap into a smart city, with three major action plans set for 2022 to 2025.

According to discussions at an official meeting on 31 October, the second phase of the project will be implemented from May 2022 to March 2025, and implement three activities, including:

1). Establishment of structures and cooperation between relevant institutions.

2). The process of implementing the Smart City Approach through the pilot implementation of projects to address the challenges that are emerging in Siem Reap.

(3) Establishment of a Smart City Approach and Evaluation System.

In the second phase, the provincial administration is also ready to work with JICA to pilot a smart city approach project to address challenges in Siem Reap through six projects.

In the first phase (2020-2021), JICA helped to study challenges in Siem Reap and prepared the roadmap for the smart city project (2021-2035).
