Kampot City Hall Urges Developer to Accelerate Beach Construction

The Kampot Provincial Administration has urged the responsible firm to speed up the construction of a new 2km long beach in Teuk Chhou district as soon as possible, in response to the increase in tourists.

The matter was discussed during a meeting between Kampot Governor H.E Chev Tay and representatives from IGB (Cambodia) Co Ltd.

The Director of the Provincial Tourism Department Soy Sinol said on 04 August that this new beach is one phase among other projects of the firm. It will be a 2,000-metre beach in Teuk Chhou district located 8km from Kampot city.

“The company has plenty of development projects, which will take quite a while to complete. Thus, we want to encourage them just to do the beach first,” said Mr Soy.

Mr Soy has not yet confirmed the budget for this project as his department is currently working on the master plan.

During the meeting, the team also discussed the establishment of a committee and sub-committee to oversee this beach resort development.
