The overall construction on the Kampot Tourism Port is over 84% complete as of September and is scheduled for final completion by the end of 2021, according to a site inspection by the Minister of Tourism HE Thong Khon on Wednesday 29 September.

Meanwhile, construction of the passenger terminal is also over 73% completed.

Located in Toek Chhu district, ground was broken on the project in August 2018 and is being built under an US$8 million loan from the Asia Development Bank (ABD).

Upon completion, the port will be able to accommodate 1 million tourists and passengers and will be the main gateway connecting tourism vessels from Thailand and Vietnam to Cambodia’s Kampot province.

The construction of this project has been delayed many times due to the impact of COVID-19. From the original plan to open for operation in April 2020, it was delayed to early 2021 then to mid and late 2021. (Read more and more)
