Koh Kong Zhejiang Special Economic Zone Secures Over $567 Million in Investment to Fuel Furniture Manufacturing Hub

In a robust demonstration of Cambodia’s growing appeal to international industrial manufacturers, the Koh Kong Zhejiang Special Economic Zone has successfully secured 76 investment projects valued at over $567 million in just over two years since its inception. The rapid expansion of this industrial node was showcased during a field inspection led by HE Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Investment Committee under the Council for the Development of Cambodia, on June 27, 2026. The delegation reviewed the zone’s operational progress and assessed its role in driving economic diversification along the southwestern coast of the Kingdom.

Strategically situated across a multi-village footprint in Srae Ambel district within Koh Kong province, the special economic zone encompasses parts of Ou Chrov village and Phlong village in Boeng Preav commune, alongside Chheu Neang village in Chroy Svay commune. Since its establishment in 2024 during the seventh legislature of the National Assembly, the zone has prioritized the development of a specialized furniture manufacturing industrial cluster. This focused industrial strategy has successfully positioned the area as an emerging production and export base for consumer goods destined for international markets.

The delegation’s visit highlighted a notable pace of infrastructural development, with approximately 45% of the total land area already developed and fully serviced within the two-year timeframe. The zone features a comprehensive suite of utilities and support structures designed to ensure operational self-sufficiency, including paved internal road networks, integrated power grids, dedicated water reservoirs, clean water processing facilities, and on-site accommodations for factory workers and corporate staff. This ongoing buildout underscores the effectiveness of public-private alignment in creating comprehensive ecosystems capable of attracting large-scale foreign direct investment while generating sustainable local employment opportunities.  (read more)
