Korean Firm to Transform Waste into 24 Megawatts of Electricity Daily in Cambodia

Korean company Hyuckjin Energy Plant Engineering plans to deploy its cutting-edge technology to convert waste into electricity in Cambodia, aiming to generate at least 24 megawatts of power daily from 100 tons of waste. This initiative was discussed during a meeting between HE Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and a delegation from Hyuckjin Energy Plant Engineering and Defytime Company, led by Dr Kol Pheng, on 13 May 2024.

The Korean company representative confirmed the company’s commitment to bring advanced technology capable of producing substantial energy through waste recycling that their technology can produce at least 24 megawatts of electricity per day by incinerating approximately 100 tons of waste.

During the meeting, HE Sun Chanthol expressed full support for the investment project and encouraged the company to submit comprehensive project details to the CDC to facilitate coordination and implementation by relevant government institutions.

This project marks a significant step towards sustainable development in Cambodia, aligning with the country’s efforts to enhance waste management and renewable energy production. The collaboration with Hyuckjin Energy Plant Engineering is expected to bring modern technological solutions to the forefront of Cambodia’s environmental and energy sectors.
