Malaysia Firm Asked to Invest in Cambodia’s Maga Infrastructure Project

Ministry of Public Works and Transport has asked Malaysia firm to consider of its investment plan on infrastructure sector, which Cambodian government considers it as one of priority sectors for driving economic growth.

H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, raised the mega infrastructure projects in a meeting held on December 12 with representatives of Rafulin Holdings Sdn Bhd, an enterprise from Malaysia, with urging the firm to invest in Cambodia’s infrastructure development.

In the meeting, H.E. Sun Chanthol said although rapid growth of infrastructure development in Cambodia, particularly building roads, bridges, railway etc. toward to the connection throughout the country, Cambodian government still needs more investments on the transportation system, especially transportation system in Phnom Penh.

“To response to traffic congestion due to the growth of vehicle uses and demand of transportation, the ministry has checked the possibility of using the Automated Guideway Transit (AGT), Monorail or metro and building 4th satellite road,” H.E. Sun Chanthol said.

According to the ministry, Rafulin Holdings Sdn Bhd expressed interests in investing in Cambodia.

Regarding to the infrastructure development, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, wrote in his official Facebook page on December 15 valuing the development of roads and bridges contribute much serving for transporting goods and products for export.

“Small and big roads and bridges in the country have been built and improved with quality aimed to serve to transportation which is to make the transportation service more efficiency and save time to businessmen both local and foreigners amid Cambodia is producing agricultural products and manufacture products and other materials for exports to international markets,” Samdech Hun Sen wrote.
