More Standardised Landfills Planned for Multiple Provinces Nationwide

The government plans to build more standardised landfills in multiple provinces nationwide to contribute to improving the efficiency of waste management.

The plan was unveiled by HE Neth Pheaktra, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment, during a visit to landfill in Sihanoukville that has just been put into use.

Speaking to the media during the visit on 30 November, he explained that this is the first landfill in Cambodia that has been established with high technical standards.

“With this one as a model, in 2022, the government mulls establishing many other landfills in other provinces such as Kep, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Svay Rieng, and so on,” said HE Neth Phreaktra.

The landfill in Sihanoukville was built on an area of 51 hectares with a total budget of more than US$5.31 million.
