MPWT Cooperates with JICA to Improve Logistics System in Cambodia

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) signed a technical cooperation deal with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on 10 September to improve the Phase II logistics system in Cambodia.

MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol said at the agreement-signing ceremony that the enhancing transportation infrastructure, as well as upgrading and opening international borders, are the driving forces promoting the logistics sector in Cambodia to be more competitive.

He also announced that Cambodia is requesting Thailand to temporarily open and allow trucks (containers) to access the Stung Bot- Ban Nong Ing international border checkpoint, to help ease the congestion. However, the documentary work will be carried out at the Poipet International Checkpoint as normal. (Read more)

Meanwhile, representatives of the JICA also expressed full support for advancing the logistics and transportation system in Cambodia, in particular expanding international border crossings with neighbouring countries to promote the national economy.
