MPWT Renegotiates Construction Costs of Siem Reap 38-Road Renovation Project

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has started renegotiating with construction companies regarding the cost of building the 38 roads in Siem Reap city, even though the overall construction has been more than 63% completed.

According to MPWT spokesman HE Vasim Sorya, the ministry has renegotiated the cost with companies now because of two reasons.

“First, the negotiation is for the sections that haven’t been built or the payment that hasn’t been paid. As the construction is done phase by phase, the payment will also be made phase by phase,” said HE Vasim Sorya.

“The second reason is that the completed construction could be done through the advanced payment method, where the actual cost will be discussed later. With this method, the project can begin faster,” he added.

As of 25 June, the overall construction of this project has reached over 63% and is scheduled for full completion in December this year. (Read more)
