National Road 48 Rehabilitation Project Nears Completion

In a significant development for regional connectivity, the rehabilitation of National Road 48, which spans 148 kilometres from Sre Ambel to Koh Kong province, is now 94.30% complete. The ambitious project aims to enhance transportation, logistics, and tourism along this vital economic corridor.

The progress was confirmed during a recent inspection led by HE So Vector, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and Project Director. Accompanied by a technical team and the construction company, the inspection took place on 2 April 2025.

During the inspection, officials focused on quality assurance, conducting rigorous checks on the thickness and compaction of the asphalt concrete (AC) layer through drilling and testing methods. These measures are essential to ensure compliance with established construction technical standards.

Following the inspection, HE So Vector convened a meeting to evaluate the project’s progress and outline the remaining tasks at hand. He underscored the importance of traffic safety, urging the technical team to conduct thorough inspections of safety features and drainage systems, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Moreover, HE So Vector emphasised the need to adhere to the project timeline while maintaining high-quality standards, reflecting the government’s commitment to delivering a safe and effective infrastructure for the public.

This vital road rehabilitation project commenced on 3 January 2022, funded through a concessional loan from the Government of the Republic of Korea, supplemented by a budget from the Government of Cambodia, with the total investment exceeding USD 78 million. As the project nears its completion, local communities anticipate significant improvements in connectivity and economic opportunities. (Read more and more)
