National Road No. 4 improvement work reaches 15% completed

Construction of National Road No. 4 improvement project from Bek Chan commune, Ang Snoul district, Kandal province to Bit Trang commune, Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province completed 15% as of June.

The progress of the construction of the road section was mentioned during the inspection visit led by HE Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on June 22, 2022, with the participation of officials, representatives of construction companies, and technical inspection companies.

The HE Sun Chanthol said that the technical team of the ministry will regularly continue to inspect and monitor the quality of the road construction, citing that the ministry has enough equipment to monitor the quality of the construction of the road.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Royal Government of Cambodia has received a concessional loan from the World Bank for the construction, expansion, and maintenance of National Road 4 to increase the safety of people travelling, transporting goods, and ensuring resistance to climate change.

He also informed that the budget of US$110 million is divided into 7 packages, of which 3 packages are under construction with 15% completed although it is a bit behind schedule, the company will accelerate the construction.

Separately, the Ministry has already signed the agreement for the other two packages, and the company is preparing to send machinery and equipment for construction, while for the other two packages, the ministry is requesting the Ministry of Economy and Finance to examine the possibility of selecting companies that have submitted bids for construction.

Construction, expansion, and maintenance of the section of National Road No. 4 started from December 2021 to December 2026.
