New US$1.3m bridge across Stung Sen brings relief to locals

A new bridge across Stung Sen, dubbed “Sampov Trai Lok Trai Leak,” was officially inaugurated on 26 March 2023. The $1.3 million construction project, gifted by Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen, spans 180 meters by 8.8 meters and connects Tbong Krapeu commune, Santuk district to Prek Kuy commune, Kampong Svay district, Kampong Thom province.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Her Excellency Dr Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection. She noted the significance of the new bridge in improving local transportation, emphasizing that This bridge is a great contribution to the development of infrastructure and socio-economic activities in the province.

Cambodian engineers’ construction of the new Stung Sen bridge began on 13 February 2022. Its completion has brought much-needed relief to locals who no longer need to rely on boats or other transit, saving them time and money.

The new bridge is expected to facilitate economic development in the region by improving connectivity between the two communes. It is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and socio-economic conditions in Kampong Thom province.
