New US$4 million Poipet Border Checkpoint Facility Officially Opens

A new Poipet international border checkpoint facility was officially inaugurated on Tuesday 1 March, which will help ease the transit of cargo goods and tourists more effectively.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of Samdech Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Construction of this new building began in October 2017 and was completed in September 2021, with a budget of US$4 million.

The building features the Khmer architecture style, reflecting a new image of Cambodia, a country rich in cultural, traditional, and functional structures in line with international standards. The building is one of Cambodia’s most important international border crossings for economy and tourism.
