NR21 Takmao-Koh Thom Section Officially Inaugurated Today

The 64km section of NR21connecting the Takhmao roundabout to the Cambodia-Vietnam International Gate (Chrey Thom – Long Binh) has been officially inaugurated after construction was completed in 2019.

The inauguration ceremony of NR21 was on Wednesday 23 March and presided over by PM Samdech Hun Sen and South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia HE Park Heung-kyeong.

Costing US$61 million, funded by a concessional loan from South Korea and government budget, the construction was divided into two phases. The first 55 km section started construction in 2015 and was completed in 2017, and another 8.6 km began construction in 2018 and was completed in 2019.

Built by South Korean company HANSHIN Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd and technically inspected by DASAN Consultants Co., Ltd, the NR21 was upgraded from DBST to AC with some parts expanded from 2 lanes to 4 lanes.

NR21 is a strategic road connecting Phnom Penh with some road networks such as NR2, Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3, NR21A, and NR21B towards the Cambodia-Vietnam border crossing (Chrey Thom-Long Binh).

These road connections have been playing important roles in facilitating all kinds of transportation, especially goods and agricultural products between Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as promoting and transforming border areas into development zones.
