Over 2km standard beach development project in Kep province officially launched

Cambodia’s National Committee for Coastal Management and Development (NCDD) has officially launched the project to build a 2,700-meter-long beach in Kep province, as reported by the inauguration ceremony on March 24, 2023. The project, located in Thmey Village, Sangkat Prey Thom, Kep City, Kep Province, will span a width of 130 meters.

The beach development project is divided into six areas, including:

  • The land for private use is 50 meters wide, 2,700 meters long, and filled with additional land
  • The public park is 50 meters wide and 2,700 meters long.
  • Public recreation beach, 30 meters wide, 2,700 meters long
  • Landscaping work, widening two roundabouts
  • Construction of 5 lanes and sub-lanes and
  • Other additional work., following Master Plan in the government’s Sub-Decree No. 257 issued on December 08, 2022.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, His Excellency Chea Sophara, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction Chairman of the NCDD, emphasised that the project will elevate the coast’s beauty and create a new tourism service. The beach will be a place to relax, enjoy sea views and fresh air, and attract both domestic and international tourists.

The construction of the 2.7km beach project started in November 2021. The project significantly contributes to the government’s efforts to develop and enhance the coastal areas, promote tourism, and generate economic growth for the province and the country.
