Part of the Controversial Dara Sakor Project Officially Launched

Despite sanction from the United States, part of the multi-billion-dollar Dara Sakor Project Stardeam Lake Tourism Town in Koh Kong has officially opened for sale.

The official sale opening ceremony was held on 09 October with the presence of Koh Kong provincial governor Mithona Phouthorng and representatives from Union Development Group (UDG).

Governor Mithona emphasised that Dara Sakor Stardeam Lake Tourism Town is a great achievement of the Dara Sakor district with a diverse ecology villa community.

The Dara Sakor Airport project is a long-controversial issue. The United States recently imposed sanctions on this project over alleged serious human rights abuse and corruption, based on the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act. (Read more)

The issue has been receiving significant criticism from international analysts, saying it is really being built to serve the Chinese military due to its massive size. (Read more)

However, the Cambodian government has repeatedly denied the allegations, claiming the project was only being built for tourism (Read More).
