PM Hun Sen urges Timor-Leste to set up more factories in Cambodia to maintain their food security

PM Hun Sen reiterated that he urges Timor-Leste to invest in establishing a rice mill in Cambodia to maintain food security in their country, while Cambodia has also strongly helped Timor-Leste in the agricultural sector.

Recently, PM has already confirmed to Timor-Leste that he will send agricultural experts to inspect the land situation to help agricultural production in East Timor. (Read more)

During a bilateral meeting with HE Taur Matan Ruak, Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, on his way to attend the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labour Bajo, Republic of Indonesia on May 9, 2023. Mention the purpose of wanting Timor-Leste to have food security.

In this regard, PM intends for Timor-Leste investors to invest in Cambodia by setting up a rice mill to export rice to Timor-Leste, and bran can be stored for animal feed.

On that occasion, PM stated that if Timor-Leste agrees on the above objectives, Cambodia will send agricultural experts to study the land in Timor-Leste to see if the soil conditions there can be grown on any crop.

In this regard, His Excellency the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste also welcomed and accepted the high recommendation of PM for the development of agriculture itself and food security.
