Prime Minister Unveils Ambitious Plan to Transform Stung Treng’s Agriculture Sector

In a significant move aimed at revitalising the agricultural landscape of Stung Treng province, Prime Minister Hun Manet has announced the re-zoning of 6,000 hectares of investment land to a private company to establish an agro-industrial zone. This ambitious initiative was unveiled during the official inauguration of National Road 71c on 12 April 2025.

During the announcement, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his vision for Stung Treng, declaring, “The future of Stung Treng province will be an agro-industrial province!” This statement underscores the government’s commitment to fostering growth in the agriculture and agro-industrial sectors.

The re-zoning effort is part of a broader strategy by the Cambodian government to boost investment and enhance infrastructure in the north-eastern province. To further this development agenda, the government has introduced a special investment program, inaugurated National Road 70c, announced the construction of National Road 60c, and expedited the development of a border ring road to improve trade connectivity within the country and across the region.

As Stung Treng positions itself as a hub for agro-industry, this initiative is expected to attract a wave of investments, creating job opportunities and promoting sustainable economic growth within the province. Local businesses and communities hope these developments will lead to a brighter, more prosperous future.
