Progress Update on Kampong Thom Dam Project: 25% Completion Mark Achieved

Construction on the Kampong Kor Dam is progressing steadily, with 25% of the project now completed. HE Chan Sinath, Secretary of State, provided this update during an inspection of the project on 12 January 2025.

During the inspection, HE Chan Sinath outlined the project’s current status, specifying that the dam’s construction has reached 10%, while significant progress has been made on supporting structures. The Kbal Hong Stung Slab construction is approximately 65% complete, and the canal work is at around 45%.

The Kampong Kor Dam Development Project commenced in May 2024 and is strategically located in Kampong Kor Leu village, Kampong Kor commune, within Kampong Svay district. This ambitious project is designed to store around 300 million cubic meters of water, benefiting multiple districts, including Stung Sen, Kampong Svay, Santuk, Prasat Balang, and Sandan. Once completed, the dam has the potential to irrigate approximately 300,000 hectares of farmland, significantly enhancing agricultural productivity in the region.

The progress of the Kampong Kor Dam is a testament to the Cambodian government’s commitment to infrastructure development and sustainable agriculture. Further updates will be provided as the project continues to advance.
