Cambodia’s ambitions to modernize its industrial economy and establish itself as a competitive regional center for vehicle assembly gained significant momentum following a landmark joint session between government leaders and private automotive stakeholders. On July 31, 2026, HE Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, presided over a strategic working meeting focused on evaluating progress and unlocking new investment potential within the Kingdom’s expanding automotive sector. The high-level gathering convened senior officials from relevant government ministries alongside executive representatives from major automotive assembly companies currently operating across the country.

During the consultation, public and private sector representatives engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at identifying timely, practical solutions to accelerate industry growth and overcome operational challenges. The dialogue highlighted a shared determination between state institutions and private manufacturers to enhance Cambodia’s competitive standing as a modern production and assembly hub across Southeast Asia.

Addressing the delegates, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a conducive, predictable, and supportive investment environment. He assured corporate executives that state agencies will continuously facilitate administrative procedures and provide dedicated coordination to support daily business operations while incentivizing future capital expansions.

Furthermore, Sun Chanthol underscored the pivotal role of the automotive assembly industry in driving Cambodia’s broader economic diversification. By transitioning the national economy toward high-value-added manufacturing, the sector serves as a crucial catalyst for introducing advanced technologies, building domestic supply chain capacity, and generating specialized technical employment for local Cambodian workers.
