South Korea to Help Establish Food Processing Centre in Cambodia

The Korea Food Research Institute plans to help establish a food processing task center (FTC) in Cambodia to boost food production and contribute to reducing imports.

The project was discussed during a recent meeting between HE Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister and Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Mr. Kim Young-chan, Project Manager of the Korea Food Management Institute.

In the meeting, Mr. Kim said that the establishment of the FTC in Cambodia is to strengthen the global competitiveness of the food industry and strengthen the research and development (R & D) and science, technology, and innovation in the food-processing sector.

Mr. Kim said the project is five years starting from May 2023 to the end of 2027.

For the construction of the FTC building, HE Cham Prasidh said that the ministry would provide a plot of land to build or use any part of the 7-storey building of the General Department and the National Institute of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
