South Korean Enterprises Target Investments in Furniture Manufacturing and Agro-Processing in Cambodia

Major South Korean corporations are preparing to expand direct investment into Cambodia’s industrial sector, focusing on furniture manufacturing and agricultural processing. The strategic investment interest was confirmed during a bilateral meeting on August 17, 2026, between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and a delegation from the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) led by ICCI President Park Joo-bong.

During the discussion, ICCI President Park Joo-bong reported that previous investment promotion campaigns in South Korea generated strong interest across the business community. He noted that 38 South Korean media organizations actively covered Cambodia’s economic potential and favorable investment climate, successfully positioning the Kingdom as an attractive destination for foreign capital. This heightened visibility has led several prominent South Korean enterprises to formally explore establishing manufacturing and agro-processing facilities within the country.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol expressed full backing for the proposed industrial projects, affirming that the Royal Government of Cambodia stands ready to provide comprehensive facilitation to bring the ventures to fruition. He emphasized that incoming foreign direct investment will play a vital role in advancing national human resource development, elevating technical skill levels within the local workforce, and directly satisfying the specialized labor needs of South Korean investors operating in Cambodia.

To support this industrial expansion with qualified local talent, the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to establish a dedicated technical training center in Cambodia. The institutional initiative will involve the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ICCI, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, and the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC).
