Special Teams Established to Re-Inspect Quality of SHV 34-Road Project Before Handover

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) has set up four special working groups to re-inspect the quality and defects of the construction of Sihanoukville’s 34-road renovation project before the official handover.

MLMUPC Undersecretary of State HE Ly Raksmey said during a follow-up meeting on 19 October that the project will be ready to be handed over to the Sihanoukville Provincial Administration soon.

“Therefore, to ensure sustainability, the ministry has set up four special working groups, including the working group of the provincial administration, relevant departments and units, and the working group of the National Committee for Coastal Management and Development of Cambodia to re-inspect the project,” said HE Raksmey.

These four teams are responsible for inspecting the road construction work by focusing on many sections such as pavements, drainage systems, sewage, lampposts, stone walls along the beach, traffic signs, and gardens, among others.

In the meantime, if the team finds any defects, the firms and responsible units will fix them immediately prior to the handover date.

With construction beginning on 16 November last year, these 34 roads have a total length of 82km and cost over US$300 million. The project has been constructed by seven different companies and has been completed for a while already. (Read more)
