Strategic Growth in Agriculture, Industry, and Services Bolsters Takeo Province’s Economy and Local Employment

Takeo province has seen its economic landscape transformed by the robust performance of three core sectors: agriculture, industry and construction, and services. These pillars have not only fueled the provincial economy but have also significantly enhanced the efficiency of local job creation. This progress was detailed by His Excellency Vy Samnang, Governor of Takeo Province, during a formal gathering with provincial, municipal, district, and commune councils, as well as department heads. The meeting was held under the high presidency of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on May 7, 2026.

According to the comprehensive report presented by Governor Vy Samnang, the achievements across these sectors have led to a marked improvement in the standard of living for the province’s residents. The economic output of Takeo is currently distributed among three major contributors, with agriculture remaining the dominant force at 53% of the provincial economy. This is followed by the industry and construction sector at 31%, while the services sector accounts for the remaining 16 percent. These figures underscore Takeo’s status as a region with immense agricultural potential and a growing capacity for commercial and residential development.

Beyond its traditional roots in farming, Takeo has successfully positioned itself as a rising industrial center. The province now hosts a total of 184 factories and enterprises, which includes 104 facilities specializing in the garment, footwear, and travel goods industries. This industrial footprint has been a major driver for the local labor market, providing stable employment to more than 120,000 workers. By integrating large-scale manufacturing with its existing agricultural strengths and tourism sites, the province continues to solidify its role as a high-potential economic zone capable of sustaining long-term growth and prosperity for the nation.
