Artificial river in Tbong Khmum will become a new tourist destination as authorities develop smart areas

Tbong Khmum Provincial Administration is transforming an artificial river near the provincial administrative Borey into a SMART AREA for tourism, creating a new tourist destination. According to HE Dr. Cheam Chansophoan, Governor of Tbong Khmum Province, in a press conference on “Success in the past 5 years” on 20 April 2023.

HE Governor explained that the artificial river can hold up to 3 million cubic meters of water, benefiting people living around Tbong Khmum Provincial Administrative Borey. The area is currently being developed as a SMART AREA, and the province has already set up a garden around the river.

“This smart area is expected to attract young tourists from the province and other provincial capitals, with free internet service provided to enhance visitors’ experiences,” he added.

The provincial authorities have been actively developing the area despite the Covid-19 crisis that caused a delay in the past two years. As part of the development, the authorities are preparing a roundabout with a copper statue of “Luong Sdech Kan” measuring nearly 20 meters in height and widening the road on both sides.

Furthermore, Tbong Khmum province has received investments in the establishment of 78 factories, and 192 companies are operating throughout the province, indicating the province’s growing economic development.

With the development of the SMART AREA, the province is expected to attract more visitors, boosting the local economy and enhancing the province’s tourism industry.
