Grand Opening of Techo Sen Koh Thom Hospital: An US$11m Milestone

Set against the backdrop of the tranquil Koh Thom district in Kandal province, the Techo Sen Koh Thom Hospital was officially inaugurated on 13 March 2024, marking a pivotal moment in the province’s healthcare narrative. Worth more than US$11 million, this hospital stands as a beacon of medical excellence and community collaboration, presided over by Prime Minister Hun Manet in a ceremony that not only celebrated the structure’s completion but also its genesis from the generous contributions of local philanthropists and a partnership with Calmette Hospital.

Delving into the financial anatomy of the project, the construction of the Techo Sen Koh Thom Hospital represents a monumental investment, with approximately US$11.2 million channelled into bringing this vision to life. The infrastructure, costing around US$6.2 million, is complemented by state-of-the-art medical equipment, an investment of about US$5 million. Such meticulous planning and expenditure underscore the hospital’s mission to offer unparalleled public health services, catering to over 600,000 residents across Saang District, Koh Thom District, Leuk Dek District in Kandal Province, and Prey Kabas District in Takeo Province.

Built on a sprawling 1.3-hectare site, the hospital complex features three new buildings – a central building soaring three floors high, flanked by two buildings each with two floors. This architectural marvel, initiated on 7 January 2022, integrates a cutting-edge Hospital Information System (HIS) for efficient management of medical equipment and patient data, setting a new standard for healthcare facilities in the province.
