Gov’t Temporarily Opens Morodok Techo Flyover’s First Floor Ahead of Khmer New Year 2025

To enhance urban mobility and alleviate traffic congestion in Phnom Penh, the Cambodian government has announced the temporary opening of the first floor of the highly anticipated Morodok Techo Flyover ahead of the Khmer New Year celebrations in 2025.

This development comes as part of efforts to facilitate smoother travel during the bustling Khmer New Year celebrations in April 2025. The announcement was made during a ceremony on 17 December 2024, attended by HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, and Neak Okhna Pung Khev Se, Chairman of the Cambodian Overseas Investment Company (OCIC), the developer behind the project.

The construction of the Morodok Techo Flyover (Phase 2, Floor 1) has reached a critical milestone, with concrete pouring now underway. This flyover, designed to ease traffic flow and promote urban connectivity, is expected to significantly benefit residents by reducing transportation costs and fostering equitable economic opportunities across the city.

This temporary opening follows the successful inauguration of the flyover’s Phase 1, Floor 2 on 1 April 2024, which initially connected key areas of the city. Construction of the flyover component of the Morodok Techo initiative began on 31 August 2022 and is progressing according to a planned 36-month timeline. The broader Morodok Techo project aims to provide long-term solutions to Phnom Penh’s growing traffic demands while contributing to the city’s economic vibrancy. (Read more) and (Read more)
