Thai PM Pledges Swift Establishment of Cambodian Consulate General in Songkhla for Enhanced Worker Support

In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations, the Thai government has committed to expediting the establishment of a Cambodian Consulate General in Songkhla. This move aims to facilitate Cambodian workers residing and labouring in the southern regions of Thailand. This announcement comes via a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

With a mutual vision of enhancing tourism ties between the two nations, both prime ministers have urged their respective authorities to rigorously implement the Joint Action Plan on Tourism Cooperation for the years 2023-2025. This plan sets the stage for increased tourist exchange between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as welcoming visitors from third countries, all aligning with the overarching goal of “Two Kingdoms, One Goal.”

Additionally, Prime Minister Settha Visin extended support to Cambodia’s proposal for augmenting flight connections, with a particular focus on second-tier cities. This move not only facilitates smoother travel but also signifies the ever-strengthening partnership between these Southeast Asian neighbours.

This initiative underscores the commitment of both countries to bolster collaboration, fostering an environment of greater convenience and support for their citizens across borders.
