The 3rd Wastewater Treatment Plant in SHV completes 98%, scheduled to end this July

The third-largest wastewater treatment plant (PS3) in Sihanoukville, located in Village 4, Sangkat 4, is on the verge of completion, achieving an impressive 98% progress as of July 11, 2023. The construction, scheduled to conclude by the end of July 2023, signifies a significant milestone in the province’s commitment to environmental sustainability and efficient wastewater management.

HE Kouch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, recently inspected the site and confirmed the remarkable progress. X.WATER, the representative of the project, stated that the wastewater treatment plant is currently at the final stages of preparation for testing, set to take place by the end of July 2023.

With a daily capacity of 20,000 cubic meters, the plant will utilize the advanced MABR technology to purify wastewater in accordance with environmental standards. The innovative system ensures high efficiency, energy-saving operations, and a minimal impact on the surrounding environment, free from noise and odors.

Sihanoukville Province has already established two wastewater treatment plants, which are successfully operational. The first plant has a capacity to treat 5,200 cubic meters of wastewater per day, serving the third area spanning 364 hectares in Sangkat 3. The second plant, catering to the fourth area covering 486 hectares in Sangkat 3, has a treatment capacity of 7,200 cubic meters per day.

The upcoming completion of the PS3 wastewater treatment plant, standing at an impressive 98% progress, showcases the province’s dedication to environmental preservation and sustainable development. The plant, with an investment of US$20 million, commenced operations on September 17, 2021. It will play a crucial role in filtering and treating 20,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day, significantly contributing to the enhancement of the region’s ecological well-being. (Read more)

Furthermore, Sihanoukville boasts seven additional wastewater pumping stations, four of which were constructed by the National Committee for Coastal Management and Development of Cambodia, while three were commissioned by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. These pumping stations effectively transport wastewater to the Sihanoukville wastewater treatment plant, covering a vast area of 16 hectares.
