Gov’t Invests $2 Million in New Road Linking Two Districts in Kampong Thom

Cambodian government has allocated approximately $2 million to construct a rubber road spanning 12 kilometers and connecting the Prasat Balong district to the Prasat Sambo district in Kampong Thom province.

The newly constructed road, a total length of 12 km and 400 meters and a width of 7 meters, currently undergoing the soil pouring and drainage process, is poised to serve as a vital transportation link, facilitating improved travel and enhancing the economic and livelihood prospects of the local communities.

HE Kuy Chhay, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Rural Development, while leading a committee to inspect and evaluate the road construction project, emphasized the importance of this paved road, which connects the town of Prasat Balong to the Prasat Sambo district, renowned for its historical sites. The road is expected to attract national and international visitors to the Prasat Sambo Prey Kuk resort while offering enhanced convenience for local residents.

Furthermore, the Secretary of State underscored the road’s significance as a crucial economic route in Cambodia. Serving as a vital link for various economic zones and ports, the road will streamline transportation, benefiting sectors such as agriculture, industry, and tourism. This improved connectivity will enable smooth and cost-effective movement of goods from production sites to the free market, bolstering trade and economic activities in the region.
