Grand Inauguration of Tonle Sap Bridge and Russey Keo Flyover, Valued at Over US$44 Million

In a momentous milestone for Cambodia’s infrastructure development, the splendid Tonle Sap Bridge and the magnificent Russey Keo Flyover, together worth more than US$44 million, have been officially inaugurated.

Prime Minister Hun Sen led the prestigious inauguration ceremony on 31st May 2023, marking a significant leap forward in the nation’s transportation connectivity.

Standing tall at an impressive length of 922 meters and a width of 20.5 meters, the cable-stayed concrete bridge gracefully spans the majestic Tonle Sap River. The bridge, masterfully crafted by OCIC, stands as a testament to engineering excellence and meticulous planning, taking shape over a span of 28 months with a total investment of approximately US$35 million. The Tonle Sap Bridge, with its captivating design and robust construction, serves as a crucial link between the Russey Keo District’s NR 5 (NR5) and the Chroy Changvar District’s NR 6 (NR6). This vital transportation artery is poised to revolutionize traffic flow, facilitating seamless connectivity and fostering economic growth in the region.

Complementing the grandeur of the Tonle Sap Bridge, the Russey Keo Flyover has emerged as a remarkable engineering marvel in its own right. Commencing construction on 31st January 2022, this impressive flyover stretches across 483 meters, spanning a width of 15.8 meters and soaring to a height of 5 meters.

Positioned along NR 5, this architectural gem seamlessly integrates with the newly inaugurated Tonle Sap Bridge, collectively enhancing traffic efficiency and ensuring safe and expedient journeys. With a construction period of 15 months and a financial investment of approximately US$9.7 million, the Russey Keo Flyover stands as a testament to the nation’s commitment to progress and connectivity.
