US$10 Million National Park in Mondulkiri Under Construction

The official ground-breaking ceremony on the US$10 million Monorum National Park in Mondulkiri Province took place on 19 February 2019, presided over by provincial governor H.E Svay Sam Eang, according to a post on the Provincial Department of Information official Facebook page.

According to H.E Svay Sam Eang, this luxury park will be built in the Khmer style, with a monument, square, gymnasium, gourd samples, a lucky horse statue, and an ornamental fountain. The main tree planting scheme is located on about 20 hectares of the old former airport Monorom Mondulkiri. The huge garden will be 1,200 metres long and around 100-200 metres wide.

“The provincial authorities are not able to fully support the actual expenditures for the construction process, but with the cooperation and support of companies, national and international donors, the province has the capital to do the project without cost on the national budget, ” said H.E Svay Sam Eang

“The construction of a national park, will help reveal the identity of the natural resources in line with climate change, and in addition it also shows the indigenous culture and national identity,” he added.
