Vietnamese Company Expands Rubber Plantation Investments in Cambodia by 30,000 Hectares

In a significant move to bolster economic collaboration, the Vietnam Rubber Group has announced plans to expand its rubber plantation investments in Cambodia by an additional 30,000 hectares. This expansion is projected to create around 10,000 jobs for Cambodians, further enhancing employment opportunities in the region.

The announcement came during a visit on July 16, 2025, from a delegation of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, led by Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Chamber and Chairman of the ASEAN-Cambodia Business Consultative Council. The meeting aimed to explore and strengthen joint cooperation between the two nations, focusing on enhancing economic ties and promoting bilateral trade and investment.

Mr. Truong Minh Trung, First Deputy Director General of Vietnam Rubber Group, highlighted that this expansion would bring their total rubber plantation area in Cambodia to 120,000 hectares, generating approximately 30,000 jobs overall.

In addition to the plantation expansion, representatives from the Vietnam Rubber Group requested the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce’s assistance in guiding investment partners to collaborate with Vietnamese rubber firms, aiming to promote mutual growth in the sector.

Notably, Vietnam has emerged as a major investor in Cambodia, alongside five other foreign investors, with over 200 projects amounting to nearly USD 3 billion. These projects span various sectors, including agriculture, telecommunications, banking, finance, food processing, mining, aviation, and tourism. (Read more)
