Wanli Tire Officially Launches First Overseas Production Base in Svay Rieng

Strategic $500 million investment by Chinese giant Guangzhou Industrial underscores Cambodia’s emergence as a premier regional hub for high-tech tire manufacturing and export

Svay Rieng province solidified its position as the center of Cambodia’s burgeoning automotive parts industry on January 12, 2026, with the official inauguration of the Wanli Tire (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. factory. Representing a massive $500 million total investment commitment, the Phase 1 facility marks the first time the Guangzhou based tire manufacturer has expanded its production footprint beyond the borders of China, according to European Rubber Journal. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who characterized the project as a powerful testament to investor confidence in the nation’s political and economic stability under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The state of the art facility is situated on a 32 hectare site within the Sin Bavet Special Economic Zone in Bavet city, strategically positioned near the border with Vietnam to facilitate international logistics. With an initial Phase 1 investment of approximately $239 million, the factory is currently capable of producing six million units of passenger car tires annually. This capacity is slated to grow significantly; once Phase 2 is complete, the site will produce an estimated ten million semi-steel radial tires and 1.2 million all-steel truck and bus tires per year, driving Cambodia’s total tire export value even higher.

This industrial expansion is delivering immediate benefits to the local economy and the agricultural sector. The project is expected to create at least 1,000 new jobs for residents of Svay Rieng province while fostering the transfer of advanced technical knowledge to the Cambodian workforce. Furthermore, the factory will serve as a critical domestic market for natural rubber, providing a stable source of income for Cambodian rubber farmers and encouraging the cultivation of higher quality raw materials to meet international standards.

The launch of Wanli Tire comes as Cambodia experiences a historic surge in its tire manufacturing sector, which has become a key driver of non-garment exports. In the first eleven months of 2025 alone, the Kingdom exported car tires worth over $1.22 billion, representing a 58 percent increase year on year. With six major tire projects now operational or under development across various special economic zones, Cambodia is rapidly transforming into a strategic cargo collection and manufacturing hub for the entire ASEAN region, bolstered by favorable investment laws and improving physical infrastructure like the Techo Funan Canal and new expressway networks.
