Cambodia Earn Nearly USD 50 Million from Tourist Ticket Sales in 2024

In an exciting development for Cambodia’s tourism sector, the country generated close to USD 50 million from ticket sales for its iconic sites—Angkor, Koh Ker, and various boat rides—over the course of 2024.

According to a comprehensive report released by the Angkor Institute on January 1, 2025, Cambodia collected a remarkable total of USD 48,950,354 from these ticket sales from January through December. This reflects a vibrant recovery and growth within the tourism industry following previous downturns.

The figures are particularly impressive for Angkor, where more than 1 million foreign tourists flocked to experience the ancient temple complex. Specifically, 1,023,688 visitors purchased tickets, contributing USD 47,826,981 to the local economy—an impressive 28.57% increase compared to the previous year.

December proved to be a standout month, with the Angkor Institution earning USD 5,918,148 from ticket sales, as 125,349 foreign tourists paid to visit Angkor. This represents a 27.21% increase from the same month in 2023, showcasing the allure of Cambodia’s cultural heritage.

The Koh Ker temple also saw a boost in popularity, with ticket sales reaching USD 329,025 for the year. Additionally, revenue from boat rides contributed USD 794,348 to the nation’s tourism income.

For international travelers, the admission prices are set at USD 37 for a one-day pass, USD 62 for three days, and USD 72 for a week-long pass, offering a range of options to enjoy the stunning landscapes and historical treasures.

To further enhance the visitor experience, the Cambodian government has embarked on six significant reforms aimed at streamlining ticket sales and inspection procedures for Angkor, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable visit for tourists. (Read more)
