Cambodia and South Korea Unite to Foster Industrial Innovation and Development

In a significant move towards enhancing industrial capabilities, Cambodia has teamed up with South Korea to establish an “Industrial Innovation, Research and Development Cluster” within its borders. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on April 29, 2025, marks the beginning of a five-year initiative aiming to bolster policy cooperation and drive economic advancement in Cambodia.

During the signing ceremony, HE Minister Hem Vandy highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, “By leveraging the expertise of STEPI in science and technology policy alongside our ongoing reforms in the industrial and innovation sectors, we aim to create an environment conducive to long-term economic growth and competitiveness for Cambodia.”

The agreement outlines a framework for collaboration on several crucial tasks, including the formulation of effective policies, the development of funding and investment mechanisms, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange. To ensure the success of this partnership, a joint coordination committee will be established to oversee the implementation of the agreement and maintain strategic alignment between the two countries.

This initiative symbolizes a proactive step towards enhancing Cambodia’s industrial landscape and driving sustainable growth through innovation and research.
