Bulgaria & Cambodia Forge Stronger Ties Through Trade & Investment

In a significant move to enhance bilateral relations, President Rumen Radev of Bulgaria has committed to strengthening trade and investment cooperation with Cambodia. This pledge was made during the recent presentation of credentials by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia to President Radev on 3 June 2025.

During the meeting, President Radev expressed appreciation for the long-standing friendship and collaboration between the two nations over the past fifty years. He emphasised the importance of expanding political dialogue and enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including the economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture, and education.

Adding to the momentum, HE Chea Chanbaribo, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Cambodia to Bulgaria, reiterated Cambodia’s dedication to fostering bilateral ties. He highlighted the importance of promoting Bulgarian culture within Cambodia as a means to further strengthen the friendship and build a prosperous future together.

The commitment to advancing diplomatic relations is seen as a crucial step towards establishing a robust framework for communication, trust, and collaboration between the two countries. This initiative aims to solidify the bonds of friendship, paving the way for a more fruitful partnership.

In a notable announcement, President Radev revealed plans for Bulgaria to welcome an increasing number of Cambodian students to study in Bulgaria, further cultivating educational ties and cultural exchange between the nations.

As both countries look towards the future, the commitment to enhancing economic ties and cultural understanding signals a promising era of cooperation for Bulgaria and Cambodia.
