Cambodia and Vietnam Forge Ahead to Hit the $20 Billion Trade Target

Turning physical infrastructure into synchronized industrial corridors to deepen bilateral economic integration.

Cambodia and Vietnam are setting their sights on a more integrated economic future, pivoting from simple cross-border transit toward tightly linked production networks and industrial value chains. The strategic push aims to drive bilateral trade turnover toward an ambitious $20 billion milestone.

The initiative took center stage at the Cambodia-Vietnam Business Forum 2026, held on October 9, 2026. The high-level gathering was convened under the joint chairmanship of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, drawing an assembly of approximately 300 government officials, institutional leaders, and corporate executives from both nations.

Designed to elevate bilateral economic cooperation to new heights, the forum focused on concrete pathways to expand trade volumes. Leaders and business figures emphasized that reaching the $20 billion goal requires transforming traditional road and transit connections into collaborative industrial ecosystems. Key areas targeted for expanded cross-border investment include agro-industry, logistics networks, clean energy development, and tourism.

To turn these strategic commitments into tangible action, the forum featured an official exchange of key cooperation documents and certificates involving prominent corporate and institutional players. These agreements included a framework between the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam and Truong Hai Agriculture JSC (THACO AGRI) alongside Truong Hai Group; a partnership between Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. (CAIC), developer of the Techo International Airport, and Vietnam Airlines; and a pact linking Cambodia’s Angkor Data Communication Group with the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

By strengthening institutional ties and fostering private-sector collaboration across vital growth sectors, both nations are laying a robust foundation for sustainable and high-value economic partnership in the region. (read more)
