In a move to deepen the bonds between Cambodia and Indonesia, the two nations are fast-tracking the signing of a sisterhood agreement between Phnom Penh and Sumatra. The collaborative effort, aimed at strengthening ties, was a focal point of the meeting between HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of the Board of Governors of Phnom Penh, and HE Santo Chea Mosumato, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, held on 14 December 2023.

During the meeting, Governor Khuong Sreng affirmed the commitment of the Phnom Penh Capital Administration to collaborate with the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia. The collaboration includes ensuring the embassy’s security, maintaining environmental sanitation in the embassy vicinity, and facilitating necessary infrastructure repairs, responding to the requests of Ambassador Santo Chea Mosumato.

Governor Sreng also acknowledged the historical contribution of Indonesia’s dignitaries, Mr Soekano and Mr Ali Alatas, to Cambodia’s pursuit of peace and development. In recognition of their efforts, two roads have been named in their honor. “Soekano Boulevard” connects National Road No. 6 to Victory Blvd, while “Ali Alatas Boulevard” spans 5,354 meters from Prek Ta Sek Bridge to the Win-Win Boulevard roundabout.
