Cambodia Secures $4.7 Billion in New Investments for the First Half of 2026

The investment landscape in Cambodia has reached a historic high, confirming the nation’s rising status as a dominant powerhouse for global business expansion in Southeast Asia. According to an official press release issued on July 14, 2026, by the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Kingdom successfully approved 276 new investment projects during the first half of 2026, spanning from January to June. This incredible influx of private capital represents a total investment value of approximately $4.7 billion, a milestone that is projected to generate roughly 160,000 new job opportunities for the country’s dynamic and growing workforce.

This massive wave of capital demonstrates long-term investor confidence, even amidst shifting global supply chains and economic adjustments. Benchmarking data from the regional trade landscape reveals that major international players continue to choose Cambodia due to its highly favorable business reforms, strategic location, and extensive networks of free trade agreements. Key projects approved during this period span a highly diversified range of high-value industries, including renewable energy initiatives such as wind, solar, and biomass power plants, alongside advanced manufacturing ventures like an electric vehicle assembly plant, a motorcycle factory, and a car tire manufacturing facility.

Of the 276 approved projects, the Council for the Development of Cambodia directly registered 181 high-impact ventures representing $4.4 billion in capital, which alone are expected to create over 120,000 jobs. The distribution of these projects showcases the country’s diverse operational environments, with 105 projects established outside of Special Economic Zones, 7 brand-new Special Economic Zone developments, and 69 projects successfully integrated into existing Special Economic Zones. This balanced growth highlights both the strength of Cambodia’s dedicated industrial parks and the widespread commercial viability of its diverse provincial territories.

Simultaneously, local development continues to flourish through decentralized investment approvals. The Capital-Provincial Investment Sub-Committees registered 95 localized projects during the same six-month period. These regional ventures account for an investment volume of approximately $291 million and are poised to deliver around 35,000 valuable job opportunities directly to local communities. This decentralized success ensures that the fruits of Cambodia’s rapid modernization are distributed across the entire country, empowering regional economies and fostering domestic talent.

With its modern investment laws, expanding infrastructure, and pro-business government policies, Cambodia is transforming into an indispensable regional production base. (read more)
