Cambodia’s Investment Surge: $2.5 Billion in New Projects Registered in First Quarter

The Council for the Development of Cambodia reports 146 approved initiatives set to generate over 82,000 jobs as the nation maintains robust economic momentum

Phnom Penh — Cambodia’s economic landscape witnessed a significant influx of capital during the first quarter of 2026, with the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) reporting the registration of 146 new investment projects. These initiatives represent a total investment capital of approximately 2.5 billion US dollars, signaling a powerful start to the year for the kingdom’s industrial and commercial sectors.

According to a press release issued by the CDC on April 13, 2026, the projects approved across January, February, and March are expected to create roughly 82,000 new jobs for the local workforce. This surge in investment reflects continued international and domestic confidence in Cambodia’s regulatory environment and its strategic position within regional supply chains.

The data reveals a dual-track registration process designed to foster both large-scale national development and localized economic growth. Of the 146 total projects, 95 were approved directly by the Council for the Development of Cambodia. The remaining projects were registered through municipal and provincial investment sub-committees, highlighting a successful decentralized approach to attracting business across the country’s various administrative regions.

This performance in the first three months of 2026 underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to diversify the economy and attract high-value industries. The substantial volume of capital and the high number of jobs anticipated from these approvals suggest a resilient trajectory for national growth as Cambodia continues to implement its long-term economic development strategies. By maintaining a favorable climate for investors, the kingdom remains on track to enhance its competitiveness and provide sustainable livelihoods for its citizens through the remainder of the year and beyond.
